Dear friends and members, a local charity, Little Village, needs our help. We'd like to tell you a bit about their charitable work in our local community and hope you too can contribute to improving the lives of families in need.
What is Little Village?
Little Village works a bit like a foodbank but, instead of food, it provides good quality baby clothes and equipment, donated by local families, to local families in need. It does this through a weekly drop in service, a delivery service and a referrals based service for partners such as health visitors, children's centres, midwives and local foodbanks.
Little Village seeks to make a real difference in a non judgmental and respectful way to alleviate poverty and social deprivation amongst families with children under the age of 5 years old living in the borough of Camden. Camden is the 8th most deprived borough in London with 36% of children in the borough living under the poverty line.
How can you help?
Little Village are now taking donations of toys, clothes and equipment for babies and children aged 0 to 5 years. They'd love your help finding the items on this list.
Unfortunately, Little Village haven't been able to confirm permanent premises yet, but you can drop any donations between 9am and 1pm on Wednesday 23rd and Monday 28th November to Primrose Hill Business Centre, 110 Gloucester Avenue, NW1 8JA (right next to the Gorilla Organisation.)
Just a gentle reminder, Little Village is a gift from one family to another: their bundles are gifts, not hand-outs, so please use their simple rule of thumb: if you’d give the item to a friend, then they will take it. This means thatthey cannot take anything broken, ripped, stained or with pieces missing.
If you are kindly donating bigger items like buggies, cots or highchairs please bring instruction manuals or download them from the internet. Their safety guidelines are here.
